The Bekkum Memorial Library in Westby, WI is seeking a full-time Library Director who is committed to customer service. Successful applicants will be progressive thinkers who are well-organized, visionary, and responsible for the overall management of all phases of the library. Minimum qualifications require the applicant to hold a Grade III Public Librarian Certification from the State of Wisconsin, or the ability to obtain such certification. Library managerial experience and/or knowledge of administrative functions of a library is preferred.
Duties of the Director include managing the budget; collections management; fundraising, including grant writing; programming; and promoting the library for our community. Knowledge of day-to-day library essential functions is a must. Candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to work independently in an organized and efficient manner; and be able to effectively train and manage staff. The Director must be able to identify programs as well as opportunities for improvement and growth; must keep current with library trends, issues and technology; and must effectively develop and promote the library policies, services, and programming. The position reports to a supportive library board.
The Bekkum Memorial Library is owned by the City of Westby. It is open six days a week and is part of the Winding Rivers Library System. The library is located in Westby, WI, a city of approximately 2300, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Driftless Region in southwestern Wisconsin.
