Position Title: Adult Services Librarian
Number of Open Positions: 1
Hours: 40 hours per week. The regular year-round schedule includes weekdays, one evening per week, and one Saturday every two months.

Salary: Starts at $22.71 – $28.00 an hour depending upon experience and qualifications

The Mukwonago Community Library seeks a passionate, team-oriented candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to innovative library service to join our dynamic Collections & Programs Team. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Collections and Programs, the Adult Services Librarian will provide leadership in adult programming, collection development, outreach services, and reference services while fostering meaningful community partnerships.

This multifaceted role combines traditional library services with cutting-edge collaboration and community leadership. Beyond our walls, you'll lead outreach initiatives to homebound patrons and assisted living facilities, and spearhead community partnerships such as coordinating AARP tax preparation services and Memory Cafes. You’ll work with our Lead Innovator in the MetaSpace 511 makerspace, gaining hands-on experience with everything from laser machines to 3D printers while developing engaging adult programming As our reference leader, you'll mentor new staff and supervise all Info Desk operations. You'll also take ownership of developing and cataloging our adult collections, using data-driven insights and professional expertise to ensure materials truly serve community needs.

About Mukwonago Community Library
The Mukwonago Community Library serves as a department of the Village of Mukwonago, providing innovative library services to a service population of approximately 23,000 area residents. Our dedicated team of 25 staff members (15 FTE) is led by Library Director Abby Armour, an American Library Association 2025 I Love My Librarian honoree, reflecting our commitment to excellence in library service.

As a national leader in public library repatriations under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), we take pride in our unique role in cultural preservation and community education. Our distinctive collections and services include the Grutzmacher Collection of over 12,400 Native American items, our cutting-edge MetaSpace 511 makerspace featuring a full-time dedicated staff member, a collaborative rain garden project with the Village DPW that educates our community about stormwater management, and convenient 24/7 smartlockers for enhanced patron access.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Required Qualifications:
o Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) or Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an American Library Association accredited program
o Skilled in utilizing technology to conduct all aspects of the job including communication, record keeping, and customer service
o Ability to communicate in a friendly and cooperative manner to staff and library visitors
o Strong leadership capabilities with enthusiasm for training and mentoring staff
• Preferred Qualifications:
o Two (2) years of related library work experience with preference for adult services or reference experience
o Experience with outreach services (homebound delivery, assisted living programming, etc.)
o Demonstrated ability to develop and manage community partnerships
o Technology proficiency with interest in innovative service delivery methods
o Experience with Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) for cataloging, circulation, and collection management.
