The Oak Creek Public Library is seeking a part-time Reference Librarian to provide exceptional library service to patrons of all ages, both in the library and in the community. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons and staff with reference and information needs, planning and conducting library programs, promoting library services within the community, managing assigned library collections, supporting daily operations, and administering other library services as assigned. This position works with a high level of independence under the general supervision of the Assistant Library Director.

This position will be part of a team researching and recommending future-oriented library initiatives, ensuring that Oak Creek Public Library continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our vibrant community.

The Oak Creek Public Library is in Oak Creek, WI and is part of the Milwaukee Federated Library System. It is located in one of the fastest growing and most vibrant communities in Southeastern Wisconsin, right in the heart of Drexel Town Square. Annually, the library serves 200,000 visitors and circulates more than 250,000 items.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution (or within 9 credits of completion). Degree must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Good communication skills and strong customer service skills are required. Preferred candidates will have at least one (1) year of recent experience in public library operations and knowledge or training related to reference services.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work evening and weekend hours as required.
WAGES & SCHEDULE
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with a starting hourly wage of $28.43. The schedule includes a minimum of one evening per week and rotating weekend hours.
