As Wisconsin’s only public urban research university, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has established an international reputation for excellence in research, community engagement, teaching and entrepreneurism. Designated an R1 research institution, UWM educates more than 26,000 students and is an engine for innovation in southeastern Wisconsin.

The UWM Libraries—Golda Meir Library on the Milwaukee campus and two branches, UWM at Waukesha Library and UWM at Washington County Library—advance the campus mission by providing access to holdings of more than 5.4 million physical items, 200,000 e-books, and 142,000 digital serials.

The UWM Libraries maintain memberships and affiliations in the Council of University of Wisconsin Libraries, the Digital Public Library of America, the Midwest Art Conservation Center, Recollection Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Area Research Center Network, and the World Digital Library. The Libraries use Ex Libris’ Alma for its integrated library system, OCLC’s CONTENTdm for its digital collections, and bepress’ Digital Commons to share the intellectual output of UWM’s faculty and research community.

The UWM Libraries value diversity in all of its forms, including who we are, how we think, and what we do. We strive to create a sense of belonging for all people, including those who have been historically underrepresented at UWM.
