VIDA CUMMINS STANTON SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Amount | $1,600*

This annual scholarship is available to applicants meeting the following criteria:

The purpose of this scholarship is to support librarianship. This scholarship is available to librarians who meet the following criteria:

  • Admitted to the master’s degree program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Studies during the coming academic year beginning with the fall term as a part-time or full-time student;
  • Pursuing a career in school library media or youth services;
  • Current or permanent Wisconsin resident.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

 

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of: 

  • Experience and background in library work or in working with children and youth;
  • Career plans in the library profession in library media or youth services;
  • Need and desire for scholarship;
  • Past academic performance.

*The scholarship’s monetary award varies and is based on funds available from the WLA Foundation, Inc. The recipient may receive this award only once.


ABOUT VIDA CUMMINS STANTON

This scholarship fund was endowed by Vida C. Stanton, retired Assistant Professor, University of Milwaukee School of Library and Information Science. Ms. Stanton served as President of the WLA in 1992. She has served on the WLA Foundation Board since 1998. She was elected WLA Foundation President in 1999 and served in that role through 2003.
