Library Assistant - Youth Services
Under general supervision, performs public service work specifically geared towards youth and families at the Youth Services Desk. Includes circulation assistance and programming as directed by the Youth Services Librarian. This position will provide Youth Department services when the Youth Services Librarian is not in the building or unavailable.
Job responsibilities include assisting patrons with ready reference and routine reader advisory service, bibliographic instruction, and database use, as well as circulation tasks. Also assists with youth collection development, including checking in materials and collection maintenance & development. Monitors and implements youth and all ages programming as needed / scheduled. Initiates programs as permitted by the Youth Services Librarian. Organizes special displays, and distributes public relations flyers, brochures and other publicity materials as requested. Building maintenance: monitors facility for condition and cleanliness and reporting any issues. Assists with other projects as assigned and reports directly to the Youth Services Librarian.
Flexible schedule is required with the ability to work evenings and frequent Saturdays. This position is 20 hours/week with a starting wage of $25.24-$27.18 depending on experience and qualifications.
