The Jack Russell Memorial Library Board of Trustees seeks candidates for the Library Director position. Located along the Hartford Millpond, the Library is a treasure for Hartford and the surrounding area. The current 35,500 square-foot facility is topped with angled wood beams, an architectural nod to the mills that used to line the Rubicon River, outdoor spaces, and views that are inspiring. The collections, services, and staff make the JRML a destination in Hartford. The library is known for hosting vibrant, robust events and programs for a service population of over 26,000 people in Dodge and Washington Counties.

A member of the Monarch Library System, the Jack Russell Memorial Library circulated 199,375 physical items and provided over 36,000 digital downloads through the Libby and Hoopla platforms in 2022. The Library hosted over 19,000 citizens who participated in approximately 470 in-person programs.

The Jack Russell Memorial Library Board of Trustees seeks a friendly, dynamic, community-minded leader to supervise a dedicated and talented staff committed to high-quality customer service. The preferred candidate will be a confident and open communicator who promotes the Library to all stakeholders. Reporting to a seven-member of the board with a city council liaison, the Director is a department head of the City of Hartford.
This is a full-time, exempt position with an excellent benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System, life insurance, a post-retirement health insurance account, PTO, and paid holidays.

Education and experience requirements include a master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution with five (5) years of progressively responsible management and operations experience at a public library and three (3) years of supervisory experience. A Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Grade one (1) Librarian Certification is also required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Salary is $70,000-$80,000 as determined by the Library Board.
