July 2020 | Jane Roisum

For which library, institution, or organization are you currently employed? If you are retired, what was your former organization?
Fox Valley Technical College Library. Congratulations to Jane’s June retirement!

How many year(s) have you been a member of Wisconsin Library Association?
20+

What has been your favorite or most impactful function or event of WLA?
WLA Annual conferences

How has being a member of WLA impacted you or your career?
A WLA conference was where I learned about Open Educational Resources for the first time. That changed the direction of my career. No cost or low-cost resources is one of the top issues at technical colleges and K-12 today. Libraries are leading the way for OER.

Do you have a library role model (in Wisconsin or elsewhere) that has provided you with inspiration or guidance? Please share a little bit about it.
Stef Morrill has been an inspiration to me through out my years as a member of WLA. We first met at a WLA conference! If she wasn't on the conference planning committee she was presenting and her presentations were always a sure bet. She has done so much for WLA and the Wisconsin Library Community. Stef is the former director of WiLS.

Do you have any advice for new WLA members?
Get involved right away and stay involved. You will never regret it.
