For which library, institution, or organization are you currently employed? If you are retired, what was your former organization?
Muskego Public Library

How many year(s) have you been a member of Wisconsin Library Association?
4

What has been your favorite or most impactful function or event of WLA?
In 2018 I attended WAPL.  It was my first professional conference as a public library director.  It was great to meet new people and there was an interactive role playing session on perilous HR scenarios that was full of knowledge (and a few laughs)!

How has being a member of WLA impacted you or your career?
Having access to such robust set of professional conferences, affordable and accessible within our own state is such a value.

Do you have a library role model (in Wisconsin or elsewhere) that has provided you with inspiration or guidance? Please share a little bit about it.
My first position there was a librarian (initials S.H.) who I decided had it all figured out.  She was cool under pressure, very smart and kind, had the respect of colleagues, and could talk in front of large groups about research (and they listened!).  I decided, "I want to be like that!" I'm not saying I'm as cool as her by any stretch, but I think of her often when I'm trying to do my best.

Do you have any advice for new WLA members?
Attend the conferences and talk to people when you are there!  There are kind people and utter geniuses in our profession and being able to network with them at conferences and then beyond truly develops us as good humans and better professionals.
